El Rey en su intervención señaló que “…moreover, in a context such as the one we live in, it is not enough that the world’s democracies stand together, united, to defend the rule of law and the values and principles that stem from our Constitutions. We must also strengthen the cooperation framework offered by international law and the UN Charter. A framework that not only merits observance and consideration, but that also requires compliance... If at any time ─due to any possible threat or crises─, the principles of democracy suffer severe questioning or doubts, we need to ─ever more clearly, bluntly and firmly─ defend the idea that the future of our societies necessarily depends on the strengthening of the rule of law, on legal certainty and on respect for human rights...”
