Domingo Martínez Palomo was born on 8 February 1954. He is married and has two children.
He joined the Civil Guard in 1973. Once he had passed his mandatory initial training he entered the General Military Academy in 1974 and was promoted to the category of Lieutenant of the Civil Guard in 1978.
He has been posted to a number of different units: the Headquarters of Las Palmas, the Traffic Sub-Sector of Castellón, the Traffic Group Academy, and the Security Service of the Household of His Majesty The King.
He holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has also completed IESE’s Sixth Public Management Leadership Programme and the 51st National Defence Course at the Armed Forces training institution, CESEDEN.
By Royal Decree 654/1996, of 18 April, he was named Head of the Planning and Coordination Office of the General Secretariat of the Household of His Majesty The King. He remained in this post until June 2014.
By Royal Decree 888/2015, of 2 October, he was promoted to the category of Lieutenant-General of the Civil Guard.
