Emilio Tomé de la Vega was born on 14 September 1953.
He is married with four children.
He joined the General Military Academy in 1973, and was promoted to Infantry Lieutenant on 31 July 1976.
He completed courses in Parachuting, Special Operations and Advanced Infantry of the US Army at Fort Benning (Georgia), and has a Military Staff diploma.
He has been stationed at the Infantry Academy in Toledo as a professor; in Special Operations Company No. 71, in Oviedo; and at the General Military Academy and the Interarmas School in Zaragoza.
In February 1994, as a Major, he was appointed Aide-de-Camp to H.R.H. the Prince of Asturias, remaining in the post until October 1998 when he was appointed Head of the Activities and Programmes Unit of the Planning and Coordination Office of the Royal Household of H.M. the King.
In December 2003 he became Deputy Head of the Secretariat of H.R.H. the Prince of Asturias, where he remains to date.
By Royal Decree 435/2009, of 27 March, he was promoted to Brigade General, becoming a reserve in March 2013.
