Good afternoon everyone. I would like to thank the Spanish Association against cáncer for their initiative to bring us all together again here today.
Thanks also to all the speakers for taking part in this meeting that, year upon year, aims to highlight the challenges that cancer research faces, specially after 18 months of pandemic.
In this edition of the World Cancer Research Day we will see how, with the right strategies, the survival rate of some cancers can certainly be improved.
We will also be able to determine that, advantages brought by networked and collaborative research, offer the consecuence that patients will have better access to information, more consistent, and researchers will increase the opportunities for advancement.
Cáncer involves many diseases in one and all must be researched.
The commitments are:
a) To continue to achieve better survival rates.
b) To guarantee patient’s access to both an effective treatment and an early addecuate diagnosis.
c) To provide society as a whole with enough knowledge that may help prevent this desease.
Congratualtions, by the way, to the Spanish Association Against Cancer Scientific Foundation for their 50th anniversary.

Buenas tardes a todos. Me gustaría agradecer a la Asociación Española contra el Cáncer su iniciativa de reunirnos a todos aquí hoy.
Gracias también a todos los ponentes por participar en este encuentro que, año tras año, pretende destacar los retos a los que se enfrenta la investigación en cáncer, especialmente tras 18 meses de pandemia.
En esta edición del Día Mundial de la Investigación del Cáncer veremos cómo, con las estrategias adecuadas, sin duda se puede mejorar la tasa de supervivencia de algunos cánceres.
También podremos determinar que, los avances que trae la investigación en red y colaborativa, tienen como consecuencia que los pacientes tendrán mejor acceso a una información más consistente y los investigadores aumentarán sus oportunidades de avanzar.
El cáncer engloba muchas enfermedades en una y todas deben ser investigadas. Los compromisos son:
a) Seguir logrando mejores tasas de supervivencia.
b) Garantizar el acceso del paciente, tanto a un tratamiento eficaz, como a un diagnóstico oportuno y precoz.
c) Dotar a la sociedad en su conjunto de conocimientos suficientes que ayuden a prevenir esta enfermedad.
Enhorabuena, por cierto, a la Fundación Científica de la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer por su 50 aniversario.
