Ladies and Gentleman,
First of all the Queen and I are very much looking forward to this visit to the Kingdom of Sweden -for quite some time actually- and we are very happy to be here finally.
And, of course, we are very grateful to Their Majesties, King Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia, to the whole Royal family, to the Swedish authorities and the citizens of Stockholm, of course, for their warm and affectionate welcome.
It is close to winter and nevertheless Stockholm has welcomed us with great weather, we are conscious about the particular political moment in Swedish life and we appreciate even more the efford to sustain this visit.
Our visit to Sweden offers us, of course, an excellent opportunity to give a new impulse to our bilateral relations, almost four decades since the last State Visit of their Majesties to Spain. We therefore take on the torch and hope that our visit will serve to deepen even further our friendship between Spain and Sweden.
The program of our visit has an outstanding scientific, innovation and business content, reflecting our common aspiration towards an economy based on knowledge, on science and innovation, and towards a society committed to a more just and sustainable progress. We will also promote language and culture, as a vehicle to enhance mutual understanding and a genuine interest between our peoples.

En primer lugar, la Reina y yo teníamos, ya desde hace tiempo, gran ilusión por esta visita al Reino de Suecia, y estamos encantados de estar aquí finalmente.
Y por supuesto, estamos muy agradecidos a Sus Majestades, el Rey Carlos Gustavo y la Reina Silvia, a la Familia Real, a las autoridades suecas y a los ciudadanos de Estocolmo, por su cálido y afectuoso recibimiento.
Ya es casi invierno y sin embargo Estocolmo nos ha recibido con un tiempo estupendo. Y somos conscientes del particular momento político de la vida sueca y agradecemos aún más el esfuerzo por mantener esta visita.
Nuestra visita a Suecia nos ofrece una oportunidad excelente para dar nuevo impulso a nuestras relaciones bilaterales, casi cuatro décadas después de la última visita de Sus Majestades a España. Así pues, tomamos el testigo y esperamos que esta visita sirva para estrechar aún más la amistad entre España y Suecia.
El programa de nuestra visita se caracteriza por su contenido científico, innovador y empresarial, reflejo de nuestra común aspiración a construir una economía basada en el conocimiento, la ciencia y la innovación, y una sociedad comprometida con un progreso más justo y sostenible. Nuestro propósito es promover también la lengua y la cultura, como vehículos para fomentar el entendimiento mutuo y el interés genuino entre ambos pueblos.
