Jaime Alfonsín Alfonso was born in Lugo on 18 August 1956. He is married and has two children.
In 1978, he graduated first in his class with a degree in Law from Autónoma University of Madrid.
In 1980 he joined the Corps of State Lawyers. As a State Lawyer, he served at the Tax Administration Offices of Teruel and Cuenca, the Ministry of the Presidency, the Supreme Court, and at the Legal Advisory Office of the EU Commission. He has held the position of Director-General of Cooperation with the Autonomous Administrations at the Ministry of Territorial Administration.
From 1984 to 1992, he was Secretary-General and Head of the Legal Advisory Office at Barclays Bank, and from 1992 to 1995 he worked as an attorney at the Uría & Menéndez law firm. Moreover, he has taught European Union Law at ICADE, and Tax Law at Autónoma University of Madrid.
He was appointed Head of the Royal Household of His Majesty The King by Royal Decree 542/2014, of 23 june.
