Mr Eduardo Diz Monje was born in Ceuta on 20 May 1965.
He is married, with two children.
The son of a military family, he entered the General Military Academy in 1984. After completing his training, he became an infantry lieutenant in 1989 and joined the Duke of Alba Infantry Regiment, No. 2 of the Legion, in Ceuta.
After completing the Special Operations Command course, he was posted to the 5th Special Operations Groups San Marcial in Burgos. He served as a captain in armoured units of the 10th Mechanized Brigade Guzmán el Bueno in Cerro Muriano (Cordoba).
Following his promotion to the rank of major and completion of the course for the General Staff of the Armed Forces, he went on to teach at the Army War College. In this same position he received his first posting in the Royal Guard, serving as Chief of Personnel of its General Staff. Following his promotion to the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was placed in command of a tank battalion in the 12th Armoured Brigade Guadarrama at the El Goloso military base in Madrid and was appointed Chief of Staff of the Royal Guard.
After rising to the rank of colonel, he was appointed Chief of the Royal Guard. In 2019 he was promoted to the rank of brigadier and appointed Director of the Army War College. Following a further promotion to the rank of major general, he served as Chief of the Planning Division of the Army General Staff. He became a lieutenant general on 15 October 2024.
He speaks English, French and German and his complementary training encompasses areas such as leadership, civilian-military cooperation, protocol, teaching, operational planning, and information and communications technology. He has completed the National Defence course and been deployed on missions abroad in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Iraq. His many decorations include the white Grand Cross for Military Merit, the Grand Cross, the Commander medal, the Commander with Star medal and the Cross of the Order of Saint Hermenegild, six white Crosses for Military Merit, one white Cross for Naval Merit, one white Cross for Aeronautical Merit and the Commander medal of the Order of Charles III.
Mr Eduardo Diz Monje was appointed Chief of the Military Chamber of the Household of His Majesty The King by Royal Decree 989/2024 of 26 September 2024.
